You will find some original hand crafted creations from Francie Bergquist. Francie Bergquist resides in Connecticut and on Martha's Vineyard where she maintains her studios exhibiting in painting, sculpture and fiber arts. She has received a degree in Fine Arts from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and continued her studies for a Master's Degree in Art Education from Central Connecticut University, and teaching the creatively Gifted and Talented at the University of Connecticut. In addition to a career teaching art with the West Hartford Public Schools, private illustration and design, Francie has exhibited with the Connecticut Watercolor Society, The Pastel Society of Connecticut, Farmington Valley Art Center, the West Hartford Art League and Featherstone Art Center on Martha's Vineyard. Francie's solo shows include portraiture, still life, landscape and ceramic sculpture throughout New England. Her work is included in numerous private collections nationally and her illustrated cook book, Connecticut a la Carte, is on the shelves of many discriminating cooks throughout the country. Francie's acrylic paintings have been viewed as an exhibit at Duncaster and are reflective of the Colorist Theory of Art. She mixes light and shadow in contrasting combinations, removing black, but reflecting light in harmonious color. The vibrant flow of paint that combines, using this approach, creates her composition rather than the objects depicted and a sense of fantasy, rather than a mirror of reality, results.
